PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus with a log collection mechanism for flexibly changing the set information of a log recording object and log transmission destination. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus with the log collection mechanism includes a log sorting means that sorts out a log based on filter information stored by a filter information storage means; a log recording means that records or sends the sorted log to a recording destination based on log recording destination information stored by a log recording destination information storage means; and an information update means that updates the filter information and the log recording destination information. When updating the filter information, the information update means notifies the log sorting means of the result, and the log sorting means which has received the notification operates based on the updated filter information afterwards, and when updating the log recording destination information, the information update means notifies the log recording means of the result, and the log recording means which has received the notification operates based on the updated log recording destination information afterwards.
