PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generating device that prevents driving torque on a driving machine side from being excessive, or, in the event of the occurrence of a defect due to excessiveness of the driving torque, minimizes the influence, and facilitates later maintenance. SOLUTION: This power generating device is provided with a first pressure sensor 52, a second pressure sensor 56, a flow rate adjusting valve 44 for adjusting feeding pressure to a steam turbine 22, and a controller 28 having a detection value of steam feed pressure detected by the first pressure sensor 52 and a detection value of steam discharge pressure detected by the second pressure sensor 56 input therein, calculating the driving torque of the steam turbine 22 based on those detection values and the preset specific value of the turbine 22, and controlling the flow rate adjusting valve 44 to prevent this driving torque from exceeding the preset maximum load torque.
