PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and an image reader equipped with the image processing device for preventing stripe and deviation effectively, by connecting image data before rereading and image data after rereading with sufficient precision even if overflow occurs in memory at the midst of reading. SOLUTION: The image processing device 53 includes a memory unit 531, and a control unit 532 by which image data outputted from an image reading unit 52 is wrote in the memory unit 531 sequentially, and at the same time the image data are read out from the memory 531 sequentially. The control unit 532 detects overflow of the memory unit 531. When the overflow of the memory unit 531 is detected, the control unit 532 detects the position of the image data at the time of overflow detection, and based on the image data position at the time of overflow, the image is reread by the image reading unit 52 so that part of the image data may be acquired in an overlapped way.
