PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage to pressing members by retreating them into a device body depending on with the stacking state of sheets. SOLUTION: This sheet processing device is provided with a tray 154 on which sheets discharged from the device body are stacked, and tray paper pressers 251 provided at the device body so as to appear and disappear by rotation and protruded from the device body and rotated in a job state to press a sheet from its upper side. The sheet processing device is further provided with a sheet stacking detection sensor 257 for detecting the stacking height of sheets stacked on the tray 154. When the sheet stacking detection sensor 257 detects that the sheet stacking height is a predetermined height or lower in the waiting state of the sheet processing device completing the job state, the tray paper pressers 251 are brought into retracting states in the device body. When the sheet stacking detection sensor 257 detects that the sheet stacking height exceeds the predetermined height, the tray paper pressers 251 maintain protruded states from the device body.
