<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical apparatus capable of easily and steadily correcting phase shift due to pre-tilting and variation of a vertically aligned (VA) liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal light bulb 31 being the optical apparatus comprises two correcting means: a negative uniaxial second correcting element 85 and a first correcting element 81 having a positive or negative uniaxial optical axis, for example, in a plane vertical to the optical axis of the system. The first correcting element 81 can control rotation within the plane vertical to the optical axis of the system and correct phases corresponding to variations in birefringence of respective liquid crystal cells 70, thereby preventing reduction in contrast of the projected light and unevenness of color. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
