ELECTRIC CIRCUIT BREAKER OF GAS PRESSURE TYPE

An electric circuit breaker of gas pressure type has a socket member (10) and a plug member (20) respectively having conduction sections electrically communicated with each other at a conduction position at which the conduction sections are fitted to each other, a gas generator (25) placed in a socket space between both the members (10, 20), and a drive member (30) for driving the plug member (20) in the direction in which the conduction sections are separated from each other, the drive of the plug member (20) being made by the pressure of a high pressure gas generated by reaction of a gas generation agent contained in the gas generator (25). Electrical connection of an electric circuit is interrupted at an interruption position at which the conduction sections of the socket member (10) and the plug member (20) are separated from each other. The electric circuit breaker is further provided with an interruption member (35) for holding the high pressure gas, produced by the reaction of the gas generation agent, in the socket space in order to prevent electrical conduction by the high pressure gas after the separation between both the members (10, 20) to thereby reliably interrupt the electric circuit.
