Disclosed is a substituted arylthiourea of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein z is 0, 1, or 2; R is hydrogen, methyl, or ethyl; A1 is nitrogen or CR1, A2 is nitrogen or CR2, A3 is nitrogen or CR3, A4 is nitrogen or CR4, or A5 is nitrogen or CR5; where one or none of A1-5 is nitrogen and the rest are CR1-5 and the rest of the substituents are disclosed within the specification. Also disclosed is the use of the above compound in the manufacture of a medicament for treating Hepatitis C infections.
