PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image shake correction apparatus capable of electronically rectifying image shake by highly minuteness below the unit of pixel/line. SOLUTION: The image shake correction apparatus comprises a first image memory for storing an initial image of an input image signal and a second image memory for storing a current image adjacent to the initial image. A second image is obtained by shifting an image for fixed amount in multiple directions, using the current image itself and the current image center section as the origin of coordinates, and reading out the result one by one. A motion estimation means performs block matching processing for every pixel of each image central region between the second image and a first image read from the first image memory. According to the second image and the first image to which movement correction is carried out by the estimated amount of movement obtained by the motion estimation means, a minimum value in difference value of an intensity value is calculated from time slope and spatial slope of the intensity value for every pixel corresponding to sub-pixel/sub-line less than or equal to 1/2 pixel of each image central region. The calculated minimum value is adopted as a shake correction value. Using the shake correction value, shake of the image is rectified. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
