PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door closer with a power generating function capable of generating electric power by utilizing opening and closing power of a door. SOLUTION: This door closer is constituted by mounting an external case 5 surrounding one end of a pinion shaft 6 connected not with a link mechanism among its end parts passing through a cylinder of the door closer in the vertical direction and protruding upward or downward on the door closer 1, providing a step-up gear 8 incorporating a driving gear 7 mounted coaxially on one end of the pinion shaft, a power generator 12 incorporating a rotor connected coaxially with a gear 9 at the final stage of the step-up gear 8, and a one-way clutch 13 provided in a reduction gear in the external case 5, and setting the direction of operation of the one-way clutch 13 to link the clutch when closing the door.
