PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire capable of improving on-snow performance without increasing the area of the groove portions of a tread pattern. SOLUTION: The tread pattern 16 of this pneumatic tire is formed with: rib grooves 22 along the tire circumferential direction U; and a plurality of blocks partitioned by narrow width lug grooves 24N perpendicular to the rib grooves 24 and wide width lug grooves 24W. Each of the blocks is formed with a plurality of sipes 28. A center block row 30C is formed with facing patterns 20 formed from a pair of blocks for sandwiching the narrow width lug grooves 24N. Second block rows 32L, 32R are also in a similar fashion. Adjacent blocks in the tire width direction V differ from each other in the tire circumferential positions of the sipes 28. This greatly increases the time when the sipe edges are caught on a snow-covered road surface, thereby significantly improving the on-snow performance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
