PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of coping with both cases where first print time is to be shortened and where a high-quality image is to be formed and coping with various user's needs. SOLUTION: If amplitude of speed variation of a photoreceptor is equal to or less than a prescribed value or if a position sensor does not detect a reference mark until time t5 when a visible image can be formed on the photoreceptor, a control part 140 selects a condition that drive control to cancel the speed variation of the photoreceptor is not performed, to form the visible image on the photoreceptor.
