PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base isolation structure, capable of making base isolation action while properly restricting relative move in the horizontal direction between a subject article holding member to hold a subject article to be protected and a foundation support member that integrally moves with the ground in an earthquake. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a subject holding member 4 to hold the subject article 8 to be protected, the foundation support member 10 disposed under the subject article holding member 4 to integrally move with the ground in an earthquake, and a base isolation device 32 comprising a receiving plate part 40 having a concave conical surface 42 concave like a bowl, and spherical element holding members 14 to hold spherical elements 20 which are capable of rolling along the concave conical surface 42 to be capable of rolling, with either one of the receiving plate part 40 and the spherical element holding member 14 fixed to the upper side of the foundation support member 10, and the other on the lower side of the subject article holding member 4. On the concave conical surface 42, a sheet member 44 is applied, which is formed of material with such a large friction resistance that the spherical elements 20 are hard to roll along the concave conical surface 42.
