An intake and exhaust device of an internal combustion engine is provided to improve the output of the internal combustion engine by smoothly exhausting exhaust gas and sucking fresh air when the openings of intake/exhaust valves are overlapped. When the openings of an exhaust valve(22) and an intake valve(12) are overlapped as the location of a piston(31) of the internal combustion engine is in the range that intake stroke begins while exhaust stroke is almost over, for time when the rotation angle of a rotary axis(51) is in forward 15° from top dead point and backward 15° from top dead point, an exhaust gas blocking valve(13) is inserted into an intake pipe(11) and is reversed by the resilient force of an intake spring(17) and sucks air in an arc intake groove(15) and is advanced toward a combustion chamber(43) with an exhaust gas blocking cam(16) and prevents exhaust gas from flowing into the intake pipe in a wrong way. |
