<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system capable of extending a battery life and miniaturizing the device. <P>SOLUTION: A GPS processing section 3 measures the current position, based on position information sent from a GPS satellite. The presence or absence of the vibration of a device body is detected based on a detection signal of an inclination switch 13. When a state without any vibration continues at least for a fixed time, it is determined that oneself is in a stopped state, thus automatically stopping the measurement operation of the current position by the GPS processing section 3. When the measured current position is the same as a measurement result at a fixed time before, the measurement operation of the current position by the GPS processing section 3 is stopped automatically. By stopping meaningless positioning operation, power consumption can be reduced. A temperature change, a posture change, or the like within prescribed time in the device body are detected by a thermo sensor or an acceleration sensor, thus detecting a non-mounted state by a user and stopping the measurement operation of the current position automatically. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
