PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the capacity of a memory for storing image data thereinto and to shorten a processing time for increasing resolution. SOLUTION: While a high image quality mode is set (S10: YES), in S20, image data in a designated region R1 are read from an imager for a plurality of frames and image data in an out-of-designation region 2 are read from the imager for one frame. In S30, then the image data in the designated region R1 read in S20 are stored in an image memory. After that in S40, the image data in the designated region R1 for the plurality of frames stored in the image memory are used to prepare higher-resolution image data in the designated region R1 through a known technique. Furthermore, in S50, the image data in the out-of-designation region R2 for one frame read in S20 and the higher-resolution image data in the designated region R1 prepared in S40 are synthesized to prepare synthesized image data.
