METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EVALUATING SURFACE-MODIFYING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for evaluating a surface-modifying material capable of correct evaluation of surface modification independent of quality of the material, a size and a shape of a target to be modified. SOLUTION: A fixing means 11 can fix an end 1a of a strip of sample 1 which has been surface-modified by peening. A vibration means applies vibration to the other end 1b of the sample 1 having one end 1a fixed. A measurement means 12 includes an acoustic wave measurement instrument or a laser displacement measurement instrument and measures acoustic waves generated by the sample 1 based on the vibration or displacement or speed of the other end 1b of the sample 1 based on the vibration. An analysis means 13 calculates a resonance frequency of the sample 1 to calculate a vertical elastic coefficient of the sample 1 based on the resonance frequency. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
