PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic mold for cold forging which can suppress the galling of a formed product forged thereby by preventing a hardened film on the surface of thereof from wearing or exfoliating, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The metallic mold 1 for cold forging is provided with a single layer or multi-layer hardened film 3 composed of one or more selected from groups, which is composed of; carbide, nitride or carbonnitride, containing one or more of group 4A (Ti,Zr,Hf), 5A group (V,Nb,Ta), 6A group (Cr,Mo,W) metals and the nitride containing one or more of 4A group (Ti,Zr,Hf), 5A group (V.Nb,Ta), 6A group (Cr,Mo,W) metals; and one or two of Si and Al on the metallic mold designed plane 2. The surface roughness Ra of the hardened film 3 is 0.05-0.50μm even in the case of being measured in every direction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
