<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stone powder sintered compact having excellent water resistance and high compressive strength and being capable of finding extensive utility in building and construction materials, road base materials, etc., from extensively used water glass in order to further promote the effective utilization of a stone powder, to provide a stone powder sintered compact wide in the range of adjustment of porosities, and to provide methods for producing them. <P>SOLUTION: The stone powder sintered compact of the present invention is a stone powder sintered compact using water glass as a binder and is prepared by sintering at a temperature of 900-1,100°C. The water resistance of the stone powder sintered compact is such that the ratio of the wet compressive strength to the dry compressive strength is 0.9 or higher, and the compressive strength is 10 MPa or higher in terms of a dry compressive strength.
