<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing material to be used in a fuel cell, which can harden quickly at room temperature particularly and enables a heating/drying step to be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The sealing material is composed of 60-80 wt.% glass material, 20-30 wt.% alcohol, 0.5-3 wt.% ethyl celluloid as a binder, and 0.01-0.1 wt.% polyethylene glycol as a plasticizer. The glass material comprises 20-40 wt.% silicon dioxide, 5-15 wt.% boron oxide, 20-40 wt.% barium oxide, 1-7 wt.% aluminum oxide, 3-20 wt.% calcium oxide, 1-10 wt.% lanthanum oxide and 0.1-2 wt.% zirconium oxide.
