<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fine carbon fiber suitable for resin, filler for a composite material such as rubber or the like, material for a semiconductor, a catalyst or a gas adsorption material. <P>SOLUTION: The fine carbon fiber 1 having an annual ring structure of multi-layered structure obtained by overlapping cylindrical carbon layers of which central axis has a cavity structure 2, 4, having a knot part 3 obtained by extending or thickening of the multi-layered structure of the carbon fiber to the outside of the fiber, or changing the outer diameter of the fiber along the fiber length by repeated presence of the parts where the carbon fiber extends to the outside and the outer diameter is approximately 1-500 nm and aspect ratio is approximately 10-15,000, is provided.
