PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide opening and closing equipment which can prevent harmful opening-and-closing-direction stress from acting on an opening and closing body in a full-opening or totally closing position. SOLUTION: This opening and closing equipment comprises the opening and closing body 10 which makes an opening and closing motion by being paid out from a storage portion 31, a driving source 35 which brings about the opening and closing motion of the opening and closing body 10, and a braking device 36 which puts the opening and closing body 10 into the restrained state of disabling the opening and closing of the opening and closing body 10 or the released state of enabling the opening and closing of the opening and closing body 10. The operation of restraining the braking device 36 is performed along with the stop of the driving source 35 by determining that the opening and closing body 10 is fully opened or closed, on condition that a load value of the driving source 35 exceeds a predetermined load threshold.
