An articulating bed and the mattress for a patient is provided, which enables to use the bed by expanding the bed when turning the body of a patient. A mattress assembly is combined with outer side mattress(402a,402b) which are relatively free in movement centering the main mattress(401). The size of the main mattress has the same length and width as the third frame. The thickness of the main mattress is about 3 inches. The width of outer side mattress is about 8 inches. The length of outer side mattress conforms with the main mattress. The thickness of outer side mattress is over 5 inches. The main mattress and outer side mattress form a cover made of fabric or the synthetic leather.
