Class 81(2) A dental amalgam carrier has a handle at one end, an ejection head adjacent the opposite end having a tubular amalgam receiving element 6 with an open end 7 directed towards the handle and a ram 8 displaceable within the tubular element 6 by means operated from the handle to eject amalgam through the open end 7. The amalgam receiving element 6 is secured by a lateral arm 5 to a tube extension 4 within which a rod 10 carrying the ram 8 is slidable. The rod 10 is connected to a plunger 11 movable in a tube 2 to which the tube extension 4 is secured. A pin 14 fixes the plunger 11 to a sleeve 12 which surrounds the tube 2, elongated slots 18 permitting limited movement of the sleeve 12 and plunger 11 within the tube 2. The plunger 11 is normally held by a spring 17 so that the ram 8 is retracted in the amalgam receiving element 6. On pressing together plates 13, 16 on the sleeve 12 and the tube 2 respectively, the ram 8 is projected into the element 6 to discharge amalgam.
