847,073. Dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. May 24,1957 [June 15, 1956], No. 18610/56. Class 35. A rotor winding containing axially extending cooling ducts fed by radial inlet and outlet passages also extending through the conductor has each radial passage selectively connected to some only of the axial ducts. As shown, hydrogen from the air gap flows radially inward to the axial ducts 11 in the conductors near the slot centre and along these ducts before returning to the air gap through a radial passage while other inlet passages communicate only with axial ducts in the conductors near the slot mouth or only in the conductors near the bottom of the slot. In some parts (axially) of the rotor the inlet passages may extend from sub slots instead of from the air gap. |
