Handover between heterogenous networks is facilitated by a mobile node by determining its location and sending this location information to a network server, which in turn determines surrounding alternate networks based on the received location information. The information concerning these alternate networks is sent to the mobile node, which finally chooses that network to which it will handover. Especially applicable to systems supporting media independent handover (MIH). |
