A method and apparatus for converting an MP3 file into an MPEG4 file and an MPEG4 multimedia file executing method and apparatus are provided to reduce the time required for the data conversion and the amount of processed data. If an MP3 file is inputted, a media file analysis unit(401) parses the MP3 file to search location information of a header and other data. A metadata generating unit(402) generates metadata for making access to the MP3 file by an access unit together with a pointer which indicates the MP3 file. A filing unit(403) gathers the MP3 file and generated metadata, and then generate an MPEG4 multimedia file so as to be suitable for the MPEG4 multimedia file structure. |
