A method for controlling a backlight of display unit and the display unit enabling of the method are provided to control the brightness of the backlight by correcting the DC(Direct Current) conversion value. An imaging device determines the brightness level per each frame of an input video signal(S401). The imaging device judges the DC output of the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal corresponding to the contrast level by referring the dimming signal table. The imaging device determines the pulse width value or the duty ratio of the PWM signal having the DC output(S402). The imaging device outputs the PWM signal having the pulse width value(S403). The imaging device converts the outputted PWM signal into DC. The detect block of the imaging device detects the DC conversion value. The imaging device determines the feedback of the DC conversion value(S404). The imaging device controls the pulse length or the duty ratio of the PWM signal(S405). The imaging device converts the PWM signal into DC. The imaging device outputs the DC conversion value to inverter(S406). The imaging device controls the brightness of the back light by using the DC conversion value(S407).
