A method for separating 4-[4-(dimethylamino)-1-(4'-fluorophenyl)-1-hydroxy butyl]-3-(hydroxymethyl)-benzonitrile which is raceme or non-racemic antipode mixture into the isolated antipode is provided to reduce filtering time and to be produced largely. A method for separating 4-[4-(dimethylamino)-1-(4'-fluorophenyl)-1-hydroxy butyl]-3-(hydroxymethyl)-benzonitrile which is raceme or non-racemic antipode mixture into the isolated antipode includes a step of: crystallizing the 4-[4-(dimethylamino)-1-(4'-fluorophenyl)-1-hydroxy butyl]-3-(hydroxymethyl)-benzonitrile as salt using (+)-(S,S) or (-)-(R,R)-antipode of O,O'-di-p-toluoyl-tartaric acid in solvent group containing 1-propanol, ethanol or acetonitrile.
