PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detector that can precisely detect steering torque applied to a steering shaft, is inexpensive, is miniaturized, and has high reliability. SOLUTION: A sensor 50 detects physical quantity about the steering torque applied to the steering shaft 3 for transmitting the operation of a steering wheel 30 as a steering member of a vehicle to a steering mechanism. The sensor 50 and an IC tag 51 for supplying power to the sensor 50 with a wire and obtaining an output of the sensor 50 are attached to the steering shaft 3. A power supply receiving section 70 arranged in a column housing 31 supplies power to the IC tag 51 in non-contact via an external antenna 52 laid on the full circumference of the steering shaft 3, and receives a signal showing the output of the sensor 50 on radio. The steering torque is calculated based on the received signal. Such a structure does not require a cable, a slip ring or the like for connecting the sensor 50 to the calculating means for calculating the steering torque. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
