PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire which exhibits high performance on a road and a rail. SOLUTION: The tire 16 is mounted to a vehicle used on the road and on the rail of a track. A circumferential recess 38 extending circumferentially over the perimeter is formed on the tread face 36 of the tire 16. The circumferential recess 38 is formed at a center in an axial direction. A width Ws in the axial direction of the circumferential recess 38 is made to be not smaller than a rail width Wr. A groove extending circumferentially over the perimeter is not present in the circumferential recess 38. Preferably, the circumferential recess 38 has a non-grounding region while the tire is assembled into a regular rim and filled with air to have regular inner pressure, and the tire is grounded on a plane by the application of a normal load. Preferably, the width D in the axial direction of the non-grounding region and the rail width Wr of the rail satisfy a relational expression of 0.8 Wr≤D≤1.5 Wr. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
