COMPOSITION CONTAINING AMINO COMPOUND AND SILICA GEL, AND TOBACCO FILTER

A tobacco filter that is useful for selective efficient removal of formaldehyde while retaining smoking taste components, such as nicotine and tar. The tobacco filter is fabricated using a composition composed of at least one amino compound selected from among amino acids and aminosulfonic acids and silica gel (especially, silica gel of 20 nm or greater average pore diameter). This composition may further contain a moisturizing agent, such as any of polyols. This tobacco filter is capable of efficient selective removal of formaldehyde, for example, capable of attaining a formaldehyde retention ratio of 50% or below while retaining each of nicotine and tar at a ratio of 75% or higher.
