METHOD AND ARRANGEMENT FOR LAYING ELONGATED OBJECT SUCH AS CABLE ON SEABED

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lay an elongated object correctly at a predetermined position while keeping correlation with one or a plurality of existing elongated objects regardless of the undulation of seabed or the tide.

SOLUTION: An elongated object is guided to the neighborhood of seabed by an elongated object distribution apparatus suspended substantially vertically from a laying work ship such that the height position can be adjusted arbitrarily, and then fed out near the seabed thus laying the elongated object correctly at a predetermined laying position. The elongated object distribution apparatus is provided at least one guide slider which captures the elongated object and restricts free movement thereof. The elongated object fed out from the work ship is lowered substantially vertically to the neighborhood of seabed by the elongated object distribution apparatus and then fed out from the lower end of the guide slider onto the seabed.
