GENE PARTICIPATING IN LOW TEMPERATURE GERMINABILITY IN RICE AND UTILIZATION OF THE SAME

It is intended to provide a gene participating in the low temperature germinability of rice and utilization of the same. Namely, a low temperature germination gene which is an isolated qLTG-3-1 gene originating in a rice line Italica Livorno and having low temperature germinability, characterized by having the base sequence of SEQ ID NO:1; an amino acid sequence encoded by this gene; a transformed plant characterized by having been improved in low temperature germinability by transferring the low temperature germination gene as described above into a plant; a method of analyzing low temperature germinability characterized by comprising analyzing the low temperature germinability of a cultivar through the comparison of the base sequence of the low temperature germination gene as described above with the genotype of the cultivar; a method of improving the low temperature germinability of rice characterized by comprising transferring the low temperature germination gene as described above into a rice cultivar to thereby improve the low temperature germinability of the cultivar under low temperature conditions; and a method of analyzing the low temperature germinability of a rice cultivar with the use of the expression of the low temperature germination gene as described above.
