A process for manufacturing molded products of direct-reduced iron which comprises reducing, in a rotary hearth type reducing furnace, compacts of a powder which has a total iron content of 40% or above and contains fixed carbon in an atomic molar amount 0.7 to 1.5 times that of oxygen combined with metal oxides reducible in a carbon monoxide atmosphere at 1200°C, wherein the compacts are reduced in an atmosphere with the maximum temperature of 1200 to 1420°C into compacts containing direct-reduced iron which has a carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide ratio of 0.3 to 1.2, a metallic iron content of 50% by mass or above and a carbon content of 5% by mass or below and the thus reduced compacts are compression-molded with a roller type mold at 500 to 800°C. |
