[Also in Group XXVIII] Silencing of the air intake of an I.C. engine and of engine noises is effected by the air intake filter element 21 which comprises a semi-rigid moulded mass of annular shape and of considerable axial and radial thickness (see Group XXVIII) held by a bolt 14 between an annular base 16 of sound absorbing plastic material and a cover-plate 23 having a skirt 24 providing a dust-laden air inlet chamber; the so filtered air passing through the central opening of the base-plate 16 to a pipe 10 leading to the carburetter. |
