PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyolefin resin composition capable of enhancing dispersibility of a layered silicate and to provide a method for producing a polyolefin resin material using the polyolefin resin composition. SOLUTION: The polyolefin resin composition comprises a 100 pts.wt. polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin, a 0.05-2.0 pts.wt. organic peroxide whose one-minute half-life temperature is in the range of 140-220°C, and a 0.3-20 pts.wt. layered silicate, and the method for producing the polyolefin resin material comprises kneading the polyolefin resin composition at a temperature not lower than the melting point of the polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin and not higher than a temperature of the melting point plus 150°C and dispersing the layered silicate while decomposing the organic peroxide.
