The pump/compressors (2, 3) has an inlet body (7) for supplying a fluid into a working chamber (6). A discharge body (8) discharges the fluid from the working chamber. A mobile conveying unit (9) conveys or compresses the fluid, and a drive unit (10) moves the conveying unit. The drive unit has a shape memory alloy (11), which is heatable to a temperature above a threshold temperature of the shape memory alloy and cooled to a temperature below the threshold temperature of the shape memory alloy. The conveying unit is driven by deformation of the shape memory alloy. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing waste heat from an internal combustion engine during a technical process.
