PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in a mobile phone that can be opened and closed in length and width directions, if a function is mounted which automatically connects a line when a case is opened in call arrival, the line may be connected when the case is opened in the width direction erroneously in call arrival. SOLUTION: A folding type portable terminal device in which a second case 2 can be opened/closed with respect to a first case 1, includes a first turning shaft 9 for opening/closing the second case 2 from a closed state in a length direction, a second turning shaft 10 for opening/closing the second case 2 from the closed state in a width direction, a length-direction opening/closing detecting for the second case 2, and width-direction opening/closing detecting means for the second case, wherein with a center axis of the second turning shaft 10 as a criterion, the length-direction opening/closing detecting means is disposed close, the width-direction opening/closing detecting means is disposed in distance rather than the length-direction opening/closing detecting means and when the second case 2 is opened in the width direction, only the width-direction opening/closing detecting means detects opening, thereby eliminating erroneous detection.
