PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of performing satisfactory image formation by achieving the synchronization of serial transmission between a controller and an image forming section. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the image forming section which forms an image based on video data; and the main controller by which video data created by processing an image signal is subjected to 8B10B conversion and video data after the 8B10B conversion is serial-transmitted to an image forming section. The main controller stores, in a storage means, data created by inserting a special sign for synchronizing the serial transmission into the video data subjected to the 8B10B conversion.
