The device comprising: a turntable 11 to carry and rotate the object; a system for conveying the object to and from the turntable; a scanning system which can be moved in the vertical direction, and comprises a radiation source 6 and a detector 17; a system for controlling the turntable rotation; and, a system for controlling the vertical motion of the scanning system. The device can operate in various imaging modes: planar; multi-view 3-D; 2-D CT; and helical CT. The synchronous vertical movement of the source and detector can be accomplished using one or two columns for each 1,8,10, and could operate using a leading screw 12 engaging a thread. A computer may be used to control the device and to display the acquired images. |
