A method for initializing information of articles of a consumption unit of an image forming apparatus, an image forming apparatus thereof, and a host apparatus are provided to maintain the high image quality, reduce the cost necessary for exchanging articles of consumptions and to give convenience to a user in exchanging the articles of consumptions. A communication unit(30) receives the information necessary for the initialization of a consumption article unit(10), and a storage unit(20) stores the information related to the consumption article unit. A controller(40) receives the initialization data of the use information as to the consumption article unit according as the authentication information of the consumption article unit is transmitted, and initializes the use information related to the consumption article unit based on the received initial data when exchanging the consumption article unit.
