FIELD: food industry. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed invention relates to production of a granule suitable for fabrication of new bottles and containers for food products as well as a method for decontamination of a contaminated polyester enabling production of the above granule without additional staged of pulverisation or re-polymerisation. The granule contains at least two sections. The first section coming in contact with air contains a contaminated thermoplastic polymer. The second section contains a non-contaminated thermoplastic polymer. The method involves cleaning fragmented bits of polyester being recycled and removal of contaminations from their surface. Then one proceeds with melting the decontaminated bits of polyester to produce a liquid melt. Then one proceeds with extrusion of the low viscosity liquid polyester melt and removal of additional contaminations. Then one performs strand formation and granulation to produced sectioned granules. Then one proceeds with extraction of contaminants from sectioned granules. ^ EFFECT: proposed invention improves efficiency of removal of contaminants contained in the polyester being used thus rendering it suitable for fabrication of useful consumer products. ^ 13 cl, 4 dwg, 1 tbl
