An apparatus using a flash memory as storage and an operation method thereof are provided to prevent frequent deletion operation of a flash memory and duplication task at FTL and database in consideration of the property of database and FTL. An apparatus(100) using a flash memory as storage comprises a flash memory(110), a device driver(120), a controller(130) and a user request part(140). The device manages a mapping table between physical address and logical address according to data operation at the flash memory. The controller requests the mapping table through interface which the device driver provides. The controller performs data recovery of the flash memory.
