<p>A method for improving the service connection rate of a mobile terminal in a communication system and an apparatus therefor are provided to shorten the connection time even when the mobile terminal moves at a high speed. A modem of a mobile terminal determines whether the cell to which the terminal belongs is changed or not, while waiting a network entry request message(303,305). When the modem recognizes that the cell is changed, it checks whether the MAC-layer synchronization with a base station of the replaced cell is performed and a network connection message is received(311). If so, the modem performs a network entry procedure into the changed cell(313,315). When It is determined that the network connection message is received before the MAC-layer synchronization with the changed cell, the modem stores the network connection message in a buffer(321).</p> |
