A method for reducing the interference due to P2P communication in a mobile communication system and an apparatus therefor are provided to recognize a mobile terminal which can be influenced by the interference in the P2P communication, so as not to perform the P2P communication with the terminal or so as to control the transmission power level. A mobile communication terminal determines a transmission power level when a ranging event is generated(300,302), selects at least one or more ranging codes corresponding to the transmission power level in a code group(304), and then transmits the selected ranging codes through a ranging channel of a uplink(306).
