PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the speed of identification processing while preventing erroneous identification. SOLUTION: In an image identification method, an identification process including comparing an evaluation value being a value according with a probability that an image represented by image data belongs to a specific scene, with a threshold preliminarily determined for the scene and determining the image to belong to the scene in the case that the probability corresponding to the evaluation value is larger than a probability corresponding to the threshold is performed for each of a plurality of scenes in order, and when an image is determined to belong to a scene by one identification process performed for the scene, identification processes which are not performed yet are omitted, and the scene to which the image belongs to is identified on the basis of the result of the performed identification process, and scene information relating to the scene to which the image belongs is acquired from additional data added to the image data, and the threshold for the scene indicated by the scene information is changed so as to reduce the corresponding probability.
