The valve element (11) has housing (12) formed of two housing halves with a housing passage opening (15) and two connection flanges. The housing forms a slide valve chamber (14) between the housing halves and a sliding plate is guided into the valve chamber. A lower end edge (32) of the sliding plate is outwardly curved in an arc-shape, and the valve chamber is sealed opposite to the sliding plate at a housing outlet by transverse seals (53, 54). The transverse seals are formed to be arc-shaped at contour of the lower end edge of the sliding plate.
