PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device, dispensing with a light receiving element for photo detection, and stabilizing output by simple and compact constitution, an illuminating device using the light source device, a monitoring device, an image display device and a method for controlling light source device. SOLUTION: The light source device includes: a semiconductor element 11 which is a light source part for emitting light; an SHG element 14 which is a wavelength conversion element for converting the wavelength of light from the light source; a thermistor 18 which is a temperature measuring part for measuring the temperature of the wavelength conversion element; a heater 17 which is a temperature control part for controlling the temperature of the wavelength conversion element; and a control part for controlling the drive of the temperature control part based on a value measured by the temperature measuring part. The control part detects a charge amount of temperature of the wavelength conversion element by absorption of light from the light source to the wavelength conversion element.
