<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content switching apparatus, content switching method and program capable of switching contents in timing which is preset but corresponds to a view situation. <P>SOLUTION: When a buffer capacity of a buffer section 101 is decreased less than or equally to a predetermined value, a content switching apparatus 1 of the present invention refers to switching position information to judge an optimal data position to stop playback from buffered remaining content data and can switch to playback of commercial data after reading and playing back content data corresponding to the data position.
