The invention provides a cartridge for receiving a liquid. In the cartridge, the liquid is applied to a receiving opening and flows to a sample chamber, preferably driven by capillary action. A venting hole (13) connecting the sample chamber (12) with the outside of the cartridge allows the liquid flow through the cartridge. The venting hole (13) is arranged in a recess (14) which has a substantially larger diameter than the venting hole (13). The cartridge may advantageously be used in a biosensor device or a bioreactor, e.g. a magnetic sensor device such as a magnetic sensor device for measuring the presence of an agent in the liquid based on molecular capture and labeling with magnetic beads.
